Give avay free music downloads as an incentive. You can alos try raffeling off a an ipod or psp once a month. That will get them to sign up. And dont forget to send out really cool emails, that will make them tell their friends. Make sure you are using the “forward to a friend” feature. You can also reward kids for getting their friends to sign up. Maybe another free download for ever couple of friends they refer.

There is a great article in MarketingSherpa.com entitled “Email Marketing to Tweens ( Kids Ages 8-12): COPPA Loopholes, Demographics, Creative Samples.” The article acknowledges that it is difficult to market by email to this growing and lucrative market. Tweens are a $260 billion business but hardly anyone is emailing them.
The article goes on to talk of
– Tween demographic basics
– The email newsletter loophole
– The viral email loophole
– Top 7 Do’s and Don’ts When Emailing Tweens
– 5 useful links (including creative samples)
Hope this helps
